Sarah Trone Garriott’s campaign today launched “Fourteen.” The 30-second spot begins running today on broadcast TV and digital across Iowa’s Third District.
The ad is about a simple choice: whether to protect children or protect the powerful. When Congress had the chance to bring the Epstein files into the open, Zach Nunn voted three times to keep them hidden. He has taken more than $50,000 in campaign contributions from billionaires named in those files. And today, with the Justice Department still withholding more than 3 million files, Nunn still has not signed the bipartisan petition to force them out.
Every claim in the ad is documented below.
The facts behind “Fourteen”
1. Some of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims were 14 years old.
When federal prosecutors charged Epstein with sex trafficking of minors in 2019, they said: “EPSTEIN’s victims were as young as 14 at the time he abused them, and were, for various reasons, often particularly vulnerable to exploitation.” [U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York, 7/8/19]
Grand Jury investigation transcripts from 2006 said Epstein “raped teenage girls as young as 14 at his Palm Beach mansion.” [PBS News, 7/1/24]
2. Zach Nunn voted to keep the Epstein files hidden from the public and didn’t sign on to the bipartisan initiative to force their release.
- July 15, 2025: Nunn voted to block Rep. Ro Khanna’s amendment requiring the Justice Department to release the files. It passed by a single vote, 211 to 210. [House Clerk, Roll Call 194; Axios, 7/15/25]
- July 17, 2025: Nunn voted with his party to defeat another effort to force a vote on releasing the files. [House Clerk, Roll Call 202; Reporter Craig Caplan, 7/17/25]
- September 3, 2025: Nunn voted for a rule that tabled a measure (H.Res. 598) that would have required the files’ release. It passed 212 to 208. [House Clerk, Roll Call 222]
- 2025: Nunn did not sign Rep. Thomas Massie’s bipartisan discharge petition, the effort that finally forced the House to vote on releasing the files. [House Clerk, Discharge Petition No.9, filed 9/2/25]
3. Nunn took more than $50,000 from billionaires named in the Epstein files.
Nunn’s campaign and leadership PAC have taken more than $50,000 from six billionaires named in the files: Stephen and Christine Schwarzman, Marc Rowan, Howard Lutnick, Peter Thiel, John W. Childs, and John Paulson. [FEC]
- Stephen and Christine Schwarzman [Cherwell, 5/3/26; DOJ Epstein Files, DataSet9]
- Marc Rowan [Daily Pennsylvanian, Feb. 2026]
- Howard Lutnick [PBS NewsHour]
- Peter Thiel [Wired]
- John Childs [Detroit Metro Times]
- John Paulson [Washington Square News, 9/11/25; DOJ Epstein Library, accessed 9/30/26]
4. The complete files are still not public, and Nunn still won’t sign.
Congress passed a law in November 2025 requiring the Justice Department to release the Epstein files. Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican, says the Department “continues to unlawfully withhold over 3 million Epstein files that should be released to the public” and is “maintaining heavy redactions” on others. [Axios, 9/15/26; Roll Call, 9/3/26]
Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democrat, have filed a second bipartisan discharge petition to force a vote on enforcing that law. As of September 21, it had 216 of the 218 signatures it needs, including Republicans. [Deseret News, 9/21/26] Zach Nunn has not signed it. [House Clerk, Discharge Petition No.27, filed 8/31/26]
