Sarah Trone Garriott’s campaign today launched “Served,” a 30-second spot that begins running today on broadcast TV and digital across Iowa’s Third District.
The ad is about how Sarah has served people her whole life: by showing up, knocking on the door, and listening to what people need.
“The best way to serve people is to actually listen,” said Sarah Trone Garriott. “What I hear in every corner of this district is the same thing: gas costs too much. Groceries cost too much. People are working hard and still coming up short at the end of the month. Getting those costs down is the job, and in Congress I will work with anyone who is serious about doing it.”
In her first congregation, 20 miles from the nearest grocery store, she took the church directory and went out to visit every family where they lived. She did the same thing as a hospital chaplain, sitting with families in the worst moments of their lives, and for nine years at the Des Moines-area food pantry network, where she brought churches, businesses, schools and community groups together to feed more than 32,000 Iowans a month.
She has taken the same approach as a state senator. Sarah is one of the rare Iowa Democrats representing a Republican district, and she has held open town halls, knocked on thousands of Republican and independent doors, and handed out her personal phone number, including to people who told her they would not vote for her. Since launching this campaign, she has held an open town hall in all 21 counties of the Third District.
What she hears at those doors, over and over, is that gas, groceries, rent, child care, and health care cost too much. Iowa families are working hard and still coming up short.
The numbers back up what Iowans are telling her. The average Iowa family paid about $1,300 more in 2025 because of the tariffs that Zach Nunn voted eight times for, and the Joint Economic Committee projects more than $2,500 per family in 2026.
In Congress, Sarah will work to bring those costs down, and she will keep taking on the corruption that she believes is behind so much of it. In the Iowa Senate, she introduced bills to institute term limits and to ban politicians from trading stocks. She has not taken a dime of corporate PAC money in this race.
Transcript:
As a minister I took the church directory and went door to door to meet parishioners.
As a state senator I held open town halls across my district
Because the best way to serve Iowans is to actually listen
And what I hear is people are hurting
Costs are too high, especially for gas and groceries
And Washington isn’t helping.
I’m Sarah Trone Garriott, and I approve this message.
In Congress, I’ll vote to cut costs, push term limits and a stock trading ban, and always listen to you.
