DES MOINES, IA – Today, Democratic congressional candidate Sarah Trone Garriott announced a strong Q3 fundraising haul, raising over $435,000 without any donations from corporate PACs and with robust grassroots support from across Iowa. Thanks to donations from 3,000 Iowans, Sarah’s raised nearly $1 million since entering the race on May 5th. This extensive support in the campaign’s first five months positions Sarah as the only candidate in the race capable of taking on Zach Nunn and flipping IA-03.
“I’m deeply grateful for the grassroots support from across Iowa,” said Sarah Trone Garriott, “Together we’re building a campaign that can flip this seat and give everyday Iowans a voice at the table in Washington. Everywhere I go across the third district, I hear that people are fed up with the chaos Zach Nunn is causing in Washington and are ready for a change.”
About Sarah Trone Garriott:
Sarah Trone Garriott has always been called to serve her community as a minister, a mom, a nonprofit leader, and a State Senator. She began her career in AmeriCorps, supporting survivors of domestic violence before going on to serve as a hospital chaplain, pastor, and interfaith leader, tackling food insecurity in central Iowa. In 2020, Sarah flipped a Republican-held seat in the Iowa Senate, and in 2022, she defeated the sitting Senate President in a district that Republican Governor Kim Reynolds won by 7 points. She is the only Democrat in Iowa to flip multiple districts while representing a district won by Donald Trump. In the legislature, Sarah has led on issues that matter to working families—lowering costs, reproductive rights, public education, healthcare, and childcare. Now, she’s running for Congress to ensure Iowans have the strong, principled leadership they deserve in Washington.
